Philanthropy in the spring of 2009 was extremely successful. We raised over $3,000 with much of our success being attributed to our former Philanthropy chair Alex McClain for getting the ball rolling. Our main fundraiser was the Chocolate Festival with the Donald Hieter Community Center. We sold raffle tickets the 2 weeks prior that included great prizes like tickets to the US Open at Bethpage and $1000. The night of the event the entire Pledge Class participated in ushering the occasion while indulging in delicious chocolate (my personal favorites were the chocolate martini’s and fountains). At the conclusion we participated in breaking down the party and doing all the “heavy lifting”. Overall the highlight of the night was when one of our own, Noah Belkin ’11, won the $1000 cash prize, which he promptly donated back to charity. A special thanks to the entire pledge class for their great work on this Friday evening.

On the Calendar for next semester are 2 main events. One is our perennial “Pink Party” benefitting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Secondly we plan on working with the National MS Foundation but have yet to determine what form the fundraiser will take. Overall it was a great spring semester for philanthropy and fall semester looks to be even better. Thank you for your support!
