Welcome to Delta Zeta

Welcome to the Delta Zeta chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha’s official website! Located at Bucknell University, our chapter is one of the oldest in Lambda Chi Alpha’s history. It’s been a particularly busy year for Delta Zeta. Perhaps our biggest news is our relocation to a new house. In March 2012, we became the first Greek organization to move to the new housing located on the north end of campus. Our brand new house, completed earlier this year, is the first Greek-affiliated house to move to the new residential area of campus, with Kappa Delta Rho expecting to move in next door in the fall. We’re extremely excited about our new location, as we feel it will have immense recruitment and public relations possibilities for our chapter.

In addition, we’ve also had a busy year within our own chapter. Last October, we hosted our first annual Watermelon Bust, the national philanthropy event hosted at many Lambda Chi Alpha chapters across the country. The seven sororities on campus competed in a series of watermelon-themed games, including a watermelon toss, watermelon wheelbarrow relay, and a watermelon tug-of-war. It was a fantastic success, and Kappa Kappa Gamma ultimately were the champions. The proceeds went to their philanthropy of choice, the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. We’ve also been heavily involved in community service. We are currently spearheading Bison Blankets, an on-campus community service organization that helps create blankets for Project Linus. Project Linus then distributes all donated blankets to needy and sickly children through the United States. It’s a great experience, and our brothers have really bonded together because of it.

Finally, this February, we hosted the Lambda Chi Alpha Atlantic Conclave. Dozens of chapters throughout the northeast came to Bucknell to participate in several leadership activities and practices. Not only was it an education and worthwhile experience for our brothers, but we were able to meet various brothers from other chapters, which was a rewarding experience.

As we look into the future, we are exciting about expanding our tradition of hosting the Watermelon Bust, becoming even more involved with the local community and reaching out, and helping create new traditions in our new residence while still protecting the old ones.
