Community Service
The sisters of Delta Phi try to help the community as much as possible. Many sisters are involved in other organizations and help plan community service events.
Kappa Kisses and the Red Cross- The procedes from our annual Kappa Kisses sale went towards a brand new project launched by the Red Cross. The Senior Citizens Safe at Home Project benefits the local elderly community and provides them with resources to make it through the hard Lewisburg winters! Hoots to our philanthropy chair Claire Munley for establishing this great new relationship with the Red Cross!
Riverwoods- Working with this home for the elderly is a long established community service tradition in the Delta Phi chapter. Throughout the fall and spring semesters we craft and deliver holiday cards, and we even went Kappa Karoling before Christmas!
Haven- The sisters of KKG have restored a successful relationship with Haven Ministries, an organization that provides food, shelter, and assistance to those in need. Our chapter has close ties with Haven, thanks to our past advisor Prof. Chris Boyatzis's extensive involvement with the organization. We provide Haven with support by arranging over-night stays at their facility.
Locks of Love – Lots of Bucknellians "cut it off" for Kappa's Locks of Love in March! Updates coming soon!
Relay for Life – Each spring our chapter registers at least 2 teams to walk for this great cause. Many sisters have felt personal effects from cancer, and Relay for Life is an amazing event that allows us to reach out and help those who have been touched by the disease. Relay for Life took place on April 4th and 5th and was a fun and inspiring experience for everyone involved.
Neighborhood Thaw Out 2009– Kappas will particpate in the annual Neighborhood Thaw Out this spring, a day organized by Bucknell where groups of students get together and help local businesses with spring cleaning. Our chapter will provide several groups to help with this event, and the sisters always enjoy helping out downtown Lewisburg!
