IFC Minutes - 4/8/08

IFC meeting called to order by Joe Valickus at 8pm. All Chapters are present.

1. Special Guest- Michael Simione- Sig Ep/Alpha Chi Beach Volley Ball Tournament: This Saturday from 1 to 5. It counts towards Philanthropy for PfP so make sure to put together a team. It is ten dollars per person and that includes a t-shirt. BU ID is accepted.

2. Alumni Liaison - Greg Wagner:  Chapter Alumni Liaison Contact Greg (greg.wagner@) Homecoming Luncheon- we will be ready for this next semester. Faculty Reception- also working on this for our Faculty Relations Event.

3. GAMMA - Penton Mott: Alcohol Screening Surveys- hopefully he will have them back by the end of the year if you return them soon. Fall Hazing Speaker – Judge Mitch Crane- Sig Ep will be co-sponsoring him and we will be saving money because he is an alumni.

4. GAME - Chen Mao: Diversity Materials- Thanks to all those who helped and sent in material for the Diversity Celebration.

5. Community Service/Philanthropy - Scott Shapiro: Jungle Café- Be sure to get out there and help out. MPP Money from Wing Fest- we will have raised around 3100 dollars from the event. Upcoming Service / Philanthropy Opportunities- Check your e-mails for upcoming event.

6. Special Events - Jack Swain: House Party Risk Management Award- Chi Phi will be receiving the 500-dollar award.

7. Secretary - Chris Petersen: Activities Fair Reminder- April 12th- The activities fair will take place this saturday from 11:30 to 1:30. IFC will have a table as well as a Fraternity Table. Doug will be in charge of the Fraternity table so be sure to help him out and make it go as well as possible.

8. Recruitment- Karan Shah: March Madness- Hope all the events went well for the Tournament. Greek Forum – April 24th  - Be sure to participate and e-mail him if you want to be included. It is in the LC Forum from 7:30-8.

9. Treasurer - Jeff Pike: House Party Payment- everyone who worked during House Party can pick up his money from Brenda in Dean Marrara’s office. BSG Appropriations ended up giving us about 12,500 dollars.

10. VP-External - Abe Brodach: BU Olympic Games- Although WingFest was successful, the rest were not very popular. Formals ended up playing a big part of poor attendance. Hopefully next years will be more successful.

11. VP-Internal - Tom Leaman: GMT- DU for Friday and SAE, Sig Ep, Phi Psi, DU for Saturday. RHA- will work for next semester to actually get money from RHA. House Party Payment Inquiry- Get Tom the names of the people who were on your team if you haven’t already.

12. President - Joe Valickus: Card Access Blueprints- we will be on the agenda for the next meeting. Event Evaluation Forms- they are very necessary for future success so be sure to fill out the forms. Public Safety Update / Feedback- Anecdote from Jim.

13. Panhellenic- Mary O’Sullivan: Next Meeting: April 15th, 6 pm- Also, we are starting Homecoming Planning so if you have any ideas feel free to e-mail Mary. The Kappa Classic will now be April 27th, so be sure to note the change!!

14. Public Safety- Officer Snyder: Just be careful in the last couple weeks of warm weather.

15. Greek Advisor - Dean Marrara: Central Billing Cards are due by the last day of class. You should be doing freshman-friendly events all year so that you know whom you want to recruit come August. Summer storage has been a problem in the past and a reminder that if you are going to store in your house, there are fire code regulations. He will forward the memo to all your members. Some of the Card Access workers are complaining about the condition of your houses. Make sure everything is clean and decent when they are working. Thanks to Pete Lansinger for planning the speaker along with Penton and Luke. Also, thanks to Dave Goodwin for the overwhelming success of Wingfest.

16. Special Events and Programming- Dave Goodwin: Get your green forms in from Wingfest. The top three fraternities were SAE in third, TKE in second, and Phi Psi in first.
