IFC Minutes - 3/20/07

IFC meeting called to order by David Quinn at 8pm. All chapters present. (Sammy)

1. Special Guest - Women's Resource Center: Will be hosting a "Take Back The Night" on Wednesday, April 4 at 7pm starting from the LC. The walk is to promote sexual assault awareness. The WRC is seeking Greek participation and welcomes walkers to participate. Participation hours would count towards community service hours for the Plan For Prominence. The WRC also asks chapters to post flyers in the women's bathrooms in their respective houses. The fliers present general information that may be useful for women during House Party Weekend. The WRC is also seeking men who wish to work in their office.

2. Special Guest - Elizabeth Lorson (Neighborhood Thaw Out): The annual "Lewisburg Neighborhood Thaw Out" will be held Friday, April 20 from 3-5PM.

3. Special Guest - Sam Lundquist and Laura Denbow (Alumni House): Expressed interest in working with fraternities and sororities with regards to reaching out to alumni. Meetings have been scheduled to get the process in motion.

4. Special Guest - Director Friedberg (Public Safety): Spoke to the IFC and chapter presidents about the possibility of the state Liquid Control Board coming to campus during House Party Weekend. Public Safety is planning on administering more source citations throughout the weekend, and less individual citations. Chapters are encouraged to contact Public Safety if they have any problems at all, especially pertaining to intoxicated students that present problems.

7. Community Service/Philanthropy - Chris Palmer: None

8. Special Events - Jay Sliger: There is a meeting planned for Tuesday, March 27 for all chapter presidents, risk managers, social chairs, and monitoring team volunteers. A reminder that Fraternity Row will be closed at 5pm on the Friday on House Party, and at 12pm on Saturday.

8. Secretary - Tommy Murray: Continuing to update the webpage. Received new information on our presentation relating to the Admission Office's Accepted Students Day.

9. Recruitment - Bill Groen: "Meet The Greeks" will be held Thursday, March 22 at 7:30PM in the Weis Performing Arts Center. All chapters please be seated by 7:15PM. Reminder that all NCAA Championship recruitment events must be registered.

10. Treasurer - Mike Simione: Checks ($200) for the YMCA basketball league still need to be handed in by: SAE, Chi Phi, TKE, and DU.

11. VP-External - Steve Horsefield: Registration packets for Greek Week are due Friday, March 23.

Monday, March 26: Wing Fest at 5PM in Larison Dining Hall

Tuesday, March 27: Knowledge Bowl at 8:30PM in the LC Forum

Wednesday, March 28: Volleyball Tournament at 4PM outside McDonnel and KDR

Thursday, March 29: Greek God and Goddesses Competition at 6:30 in the Fieldhouse

NOTE: any needed music must be in CD-R Redbook Format

12. VP-Internal - Nick Panaro: None

13. President - David Quinn: "Meet The Greeks" is Thursday, March 22 at 7:30PM in the Weis Performing Arts Center. A reminder to the following fraternities who volunteered to donate 300 wings to Wing Fest to deliver their wings by 4:30PM: Chi Phi, SAE, TKE, Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Psi, and Sig Ep.

14. Greek Advisor - Dean Marrara: All chapters are encouraged to do some spring cleaning on their outside properties as the snow begins to melt. Also remember that chapter management is an important section of the Plan For Prominence. Chapter roster updates are due Wednesday, March 21. All central billing cards are due Monday, April 9. The Lewisburg Little League is seeking assistance for coaching, and field maintenance, which can both go towards community service hours. Those interested can contact Professor James Orr. Assistance also needed for umpiring. Those interested can contact Professer Csernica. There is an opportunity for groups of students to put together an alcohol awareness movie clip for next year's First Year Alcohol Course and win prizes. The clip should be 10-15 minutes long, and should focus on the Bucknell campus culture as well as realistic social environment. First place winners get $500, with second place winning $250, and third place winning $100.
