IFC Minutes - 3/08/07

IFC meeting called to order by David Quinn at 8pm. All chapters present except Kappa Alpha Psi. (TKE)

1. Alumni Liaison - Bill Massaro: None.

2. GAMMA - Adam Hinshaw: The comments on Mr. Matt Bellace's speech were very positive.

3. GAME - Arjun Raman: Considering moving the diversity speaker to the Fall. A diversity BBQ is planning on being held some time in April. Reminder that the Guerilla Girls will be giving a workshop on Monday, March 26 from 6-8:30pm in the Terrace Room, which will be followed by a performance on Tuesday, March 27.

4. Community Service/Philanthropy - Chris Palmer: Voting will occur with regards to which organization we would like to donate the Million Penny Project benefits to. All bulk orders for Wing Fest tickets must be submitted by Tuesday, March 20. The following chapters have volunteered to donate 300 wings to Wing Fest: Chi Phi, SAE, TKE, Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Psi, and Sig Ep.

5. Special Events - Jay Sliger: All chapters must be registered for House Party events that they plan on hosting. This year there will be increased food quantities. A reminder for all chapters to submit their SERF and risk management forms. Also a reminder that if a chapter plans on having a flatbed on their property for a House Party event, they need approval.

6. Secretary - Tommy Murray: IFC and Panhellenic are in the process of getting more involved with the Admissions Office's "Accepted Students Day" on Saturday, April 14. We hope to inform prospective students and their families of the Greek System's involvement on campus, and answer any questions that they might have. Two 30-45 minute sessions will be given towards the end of this day, with half of the time being devoted towards a presentation, and the other half for a Q&A session.

7. Recruitment - Bill Groen: Pictures are needed for "Meet The Greeks" night. The next recruitment opportunity is for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. This event must be registed although no guest lists are required.

8. Treasurer - Mike Simione: A reminder for all chapters to submit their $200 checks for the YMCA League.

9. VP-External - Steve Horsefield: Order to Omega articles must be submitted. All Greek Week applications packets are due Friday, March 23.

10. VP-Internal - Nick Panaro: None.

11. President - David Quinn: A reminder for all chapters to seriously consider innappropriate themes for parties. IFC is in the process of preparing a statement about what kind of material we view as being offensive. IFC will also be working with BSG to promote awareness. Chapters are advised not to lie on the SERF forms about the amounts of alcohol that they cite for parties, and to also be cautious about any party themes. Voting will occur with regards to donating money to benefit the Miltion Library bookdrive.

12. Greek Advisor - Dean Marrara: House inspections are due Friday, March 9. All central billing cards are due Monday, April 9. It is very important that all chapters submit all proper House Party forms. The Lewisburg Little League is seeking assistance for coaching, and field maintenance, which can both go towards community service hours. Those interested can contact Professor James Orr. Assistance also needed for umpiring. Those interested can contact Professer Csernica. All chapters are encouraged to pay attention to e-mails regarding educational programs. Special thanks to Adam for his help with getting the alcohol speaker.

13. Announcements:

- Million Penny Project voting: Blue Butterfly passes 12-0.

- Milton Library donation voting: passes 12-0.

- Christian Concert voting: passes 10-0 with 2 abstentations; $250 donation

- Order to Omega applications are due tomorrow, Friday, March 9

- Next IFC Meeting: Tuesday, March 20 at Sammy.
