IFC Minutes - 2/27/07

IFC meeting called to order by David Quinn at 8pm. All chapters present. (Theta Chi)

1. Special Guest - Molly Lewis: Seeking feedback on Homecoming Weekend. Possible ideas to encourage alumni interraction are: tailgate outside the football stadium; hosting Carnival booths for kids; Block Party at Night with a cover band; Pub Night

2. Alumni Liaison - Bill Massaro: Continuing to develop the alumni luncheon idea. Asking each chapter to get into contact with 2-3 alumni who might be willing to attend this event which is tentatively scheduled to occur on Homecoming Weekend. All chapter alumni liasons should e-maill Bill so that he has your information: wfm009@bucknell.edu

3. GAMMA - Adam Hinshaw: On Wednesday, March 6 at 6pm, Pi Phi is sponsoring a lecture on "Unwanted Sex". Guest speaker, Matt Bellace's lecture has been moved to Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30pm in Trout Auditorium. Mr. Bellace('96), a member of Phi Kappa Psi will discuss "Alcohol Awareness". Both of these lectures count towards the Plan for Prominence.

4. GAME - Arjun Raman: Diversity speaker, Teja Arboleda M. Ed., will be speaking on Thursday, April 19. He will be giving a lecture on "healing racism", which will also cover what it means to be human. On Monday, March 26, the Gorilla Girls will be giving a workshop at the Women's Resource Center. On Tuesday, March 27, the Gorilla Girls will be giving a performance in Trout Auditorium.

5. Community Service/Philanthropy - Chris Palmer: All chapters please order your tickets for Wing Fest. Purchased tickets count towards Plan for Prominence philanthropy, and maybe purchased in bulk.

6. Special Events - Jay Sliger: All chapters should submit their events for House Party weekend by next week if they wish for their events to be included on a map on ongoing activities.

7. Secretary - Tommy Murray: Continuing to update the webpage.

8. Recruitment - Bill Groen: The next recruitment opportunity is for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. This event must be registed although no guest lists are required. All chapters are encouraged to submit productive pictures to Bill by March 7 for the slideshow for Meet the Greeks.

9. Treasurer - Mike Simione: IFC know by next week if the Bucknell Student Government will provide us with money to sponsor House Party Weekend.

10. VP-External - Steve Horsefield: Order to Omega articles are due March 2. Each Chapter President is required to hand in an article to be submitted.

11. VP-Internal - Nick Panaro: Sig Chi has a semester meeting with COGL this Thursday to discuss their status regarding the Plan for Prominence. Registered parties this weekend are:

Friday: Chi Phi, Phi Psi, TKE
Saturday: Lambda Chi Alpha, Sig Chi

12. President - David Quinn: Congratulations to Dean Marrara, Officer Snyder, and Ben Portman for their presentation at NGLA's regarding the relationship between the Bucknell campus community and the Public Safety Department.

13. Greek Advisor - Dean Marrara: absent

14. Panhellenic (President) - Stacey Swift: absent

15. Announcements:

- Vote on $500 that IFC will contribute to the alcohol speakers.

VOTE: passed 13-0

- Lambda Chil Alpha: will be hosting a concert this Saturday night with proceeds going to Students for Fair Trade and the Bridge. The concert starts at 9pm and tickets are $6.

- Next IFC meeting: Thursday, March 1 @ TKE 8pm
