IFC Minutes - 2/20/07

IFC meeting called to order by David Quinn at 8pm. All chapters present. (Sigma Chi)

1. Alumni Liaison - Bill Massaro: Continuing to develop the alumni luncheon idea.

2. GAMMA - Adam Hinshaw: Guest speaker, Matt Bellace on Wednesday, March 7. Mr. Bellace('96), a member of Phi Kappa Psi will be in Vaughan Lit. at this time to discuss Alcohol Awareness.

3. GAME - Arjun Raman: In the process of booking a diversity speaker for April 5. Chapters should consider hosting this individual for dinner prior to his speech. There is a showing of The Amistad tonight in the LC which counts towards the diversity requirement of the Plan for Prominence. Black History Alive will be held this Sunday, February 25 from 1-7pm at the 7th Street House.

4. Community Service/Philanthropy - Chris Palmer: Two members in every chapter must volunteer to help out at Wing Night during Greek Week. Next week there will be an opportunity for all chapters to order Greek Week tickets in bulk at a discounted price.

5. Special Events - Jay Sliger: House Party cups have been designed and ordered. Chapters are encouraged to notify IFC of the events that they plan to host during House Party Weekend.

6. Secretary - Tommy Murray: Continuing to update the webpage.

7. Recruitment - Bill Groen: Chapters may invite freshmen down for dinner, so long as no alcohol is present. The next recruitment opportunity is for the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. This event must be registed although no guest lists are required.

8. Treasurer - Mike Simione: IFC know by next week if the Bucknell Student Government will provide us with money to sponsor House Party Weekend. IFC needs dues from Phi Gamma Delta, and Kappa Alpha Psi.

9. VP-External - Steve Horsefield: Order to Omega articles are due March 2. Each Chapter President is required to hand in an article to be submitted. Winners of Greek Week will receive: 1st place- free buses to formals, 2nd place- a pizza party for their respective chapter, 3rd place- a donation that will be made to the charity of their choice.

Tentative schedule for Greek Week (March 26-29):
Monday 3/26 - Wing Night in Larrison
Tuesday 3/27 - Academic Bowl
Wednesday 3/28 - Volleyball Tournament/Tug of War
Thursday 3/29 - Greek God and Goddess

10. VP-Internal - Nick Panaro: There will be no GMT this week due to NGLA's.

11. President - David Quinn: Everyone is encouraged to write an article for Order to Omega. Congratulations to Theta Chi for colonizing this past Saturday. NGLA's are this weekend. Chapters, please be aware of hosting parties with innappropriate themes. Please use your own discretion. Open Forums will be held by the Deans of Students Office for the new position of Dean of Student Services. The following are the dates for the open forum that will be held in the LC Forum: Feb. 22 4-5pm, Feb. 26 4-5pm, and March 6 4-5pm.

12. Greek Advisor - Dean Marrara: Final Housing lists are due March 1, and a reminder that you need to include 8 alternates. Congratulations to all of the Greek Awards winners. The Alumni Office will be hosting three luncheons to discuss ideas for Homecoming 2007. The following are the dates for the 3 luncheons that will be held from 12-1pm: Feb. 27 (LC 241 B&C), March 1 (LC 217), and March 2 (LC 217). A reminder to attend the Open Forums for the Deans of Students in an attempt to represent Bucknell's Greek Life. Chapters are encouraged to run ideas by Dean Marrara that relate to community service and philanthropy.

14. Announcements:

- MGMT 101 t-shirts: Trying to attach our name to the charity donation that this company makes after the sale of their House Party t-shirts. MGMT 101 companies will be advised in the future to approach IFC in an earlier and more efficient manner.

- The Battle of the Bands will be hosted by Phi Kappa Psi this Saturday from 9pm-12am. Tickets bought by chapters can be used towards philanthropy dollars.

- Motion has been made to invite President Mitchell to a future IFC meeting.
