IFC Minutes - 10/30/07

IFC meeting called to order by David Quinn at 8pm. Chapters absent: Sammy, Kappa Alpha Psi (TKE)

1. Alumni Liaison - Bill Massaro: None.

2. GAMMA - Adam Hinshaw: Seeked feedback on Alcohol Awareness Week, which went well.

3. GAME - Arjun Raman: The Potluck BBQ will be held in the Spring and is in the process of being planned. Two ideas for the diversity forums are: Diversity within Bucknell, and Greeks vs. Non-Greeks.

4. Community Service/Philanthropy - Chris Palmer: Volunteers are needed this coming week to sell tickets for Greek Iron Chef. Tickets will be sold throughout the week in the LC.

5. Special Events - Jay Sliger: A House Party Committee has been created.

6. Secretary - Tommy Murray: None.

7. Recruitment - Bill Groen: None.

8. Treasurer - Mike Simione: The appropriations meeting will be held next week with BSG to try and receive money for next semester's guest speaker.

9. VP-External - Steve Horsefield: None.

10. VP-Internal - Nick Panaro: All chapters should encourage their members to consider running for an IFC position for next year. All applications for an IFC position will be due November 2.

Saturday: Chi Phi, KDR

11. Guest - Margot Grant: There will be a speaker on Tuesday, November 13 at 7pm to discuss Zimbabwe's Economic and Political Problems. Chapters will receive diversity credit(P4P) for attending. Jacquie Kataneksza('09) will be speaking about her country and any relevant issues.

12. Public Safety - Offier Snyder: The Department of Public Safety has put together a program on November 6 in the Trout Auditorium at 7pm. The speaker is Matt Bellace ('96) and is titled "How to Get High Naturally".

14. President - David Quinn: Discussed the idea of arming Public Safety officers and seeked feedback from Greek leaders.

15. Greek Advisor - Dean Marrara: The Office of Community Service is sponsoring a Turkey and Trimming Holiday Baskets program. Basket can include gift cards from local grocery stores, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, gravy, and additional related items. All basket should be returned to the Office of the Deans of Students, LC, room 211 by Nov. 15. Rick Barnes will be the "Meet The Greeks" speakers on March 30. Chapters are encouraged to be smart about Halloween night registers. Housing lists are due Thursday, Nov. 1. Central Billing Cards are due Wed., Nov. 7. All House Safety Followup Reports are due Monday, Nov. 5. All P4P credit is due Friday, December 7. Chapters are encouraged to hand in their social invitations by Wednesdays and should be in Box # order. All candidates for IFC positions must meet with Dean Marrara. Dean Marrara will be out of the office next Tuesday to Thursday.

New Business:

Fiji: Will be hosting Fiji Island on November 9 and all benefits will go to Susquehanna Valley Women in Transition.

SAE: Will be hosting a Pink Party on Friday, November 2. Benefits go to Breast Cancer foundations and will be held from 6-9pm at their house.

Lambda: Will be running in a 5K run. Benefits will be going to the Donald Heiter Community Center.

DU: Will be hosting their initiation program this weekend and all are encouraged to attend.

Next IFC Meeting: Tuesday, November 6 at Sig Ep.
