IFC Minutes - 10/23/07

IFC meeting called to order by David Quinn at 8pm. All chapters present: (TKE)

1. Alumni Liaison - Bill Massaro: The Greek Alumni Luncheon went very well this past Sunday during Homecoming Weekend. Recommendations for improvement included rotating alumni guests, and improving the ratio of students to alumni guests.

2. GAMMA - Adam Hinshaw: This week is Alcohol Week. The Mocktails event will be held Wednesday, October 24 from 7-9pm in the Terrace Room. Free Food will be served and $2 donations will be taken at the door. Benefits go towards the Susquehanna Valley Women in Transition group.

3. GAME - Arjun Raman: None.

4. Community Service/Philanthropy - Chris Palmer: The Greek Iron Chef Contest will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11 at Lambda. Chapters need to hand in their forms by the end of this week.

5. Special Events - Jay Sliger: Along with other Greek members, Jay will be developing a Greek Committee for House Party which will be aimed towards improving the efficiency of House Party Weekend.

6. Secretary - Tommy Murray: None.

7. Recruitment - Bill Groen: None.

8. Treasurer - Mike Simione: The appropriations meeting will be held next week with BSG to try and receive money for next semester's guest speaker.

9. VP-External - Steve Horsefield: Chapters are encouraged to be on the lookout for advertisements from local paintball facilities.

10. VP-Internal - Nick Panaro: The Greek Alumni Council provided IFC with $500 for the Officer Transition Workshop in January. The following chapters leaders have volunteered to participate in the workshop: Brenden Hamill (Chi Phi), Jackson Noel (SAE), and Stephan McElreath (Sig Ep). All chapters should encourage their members to consider running for an IFC position for next year. All applications for an IFC position will be due November 2.

11. Guest - Greg Hart: MGMT101 Team B will be hosting a Dodgeball Tourney on November 10 in the Davis Gym. They are seeking teams of 6-8 people and $5 will be collected per participant. Greg can be reached at greg.hart@bucknell.edu, or via cell at 908-256-4688.

12. Guest - Evan Unger: Informing Greek members that Chi Phi will be hosting a Lewisburg Culinary Event in the near future.

13. Guest - Will Moyer: The Conservatives Club is interested in receiving money from the IFC for a speaker that they will be hosting on November 15. The speaker is Mike Adams and he plans on talking about his support for gun control.

14. President - David Quinn: On Thursday, October 25 there will be an open forum held in the LC Forum from 5-7pm. The open forum will be in regards to whether or not Bucknell Public Safety Officers should be armed with guns, etc. The student committee will prepare a student recommendation to the Board of Trustees. There will be a vigil held on Wednesday, October 24 at 6pm by the Hello Club in response to the recent antisemitic events that have occurred on campus in the last few weeks.

15. Greek Advisor - Dean Marrara: Chapter roster updates are due November 2. All plans of actions regarding house inspections will be due on November 9. Special thanks to SAE for their dinner this past Sunday. Congrats to Harrison and Kappa Alpha Psi for the success on their comedy show held this past weekend for Homecoming. Congrats to TKE for raising $31,000 during their annual participation in the Reagan Run. Special congrats and thanks to Bill Massaro and Ashley Paro for their hard work with the Greek Alumni Luncheon. Congrats to Sammy for the success with their 75th anniversary dinner this past weekend.

New Business:

Conservatives Club: Requesting money funding from IFC to be put towards their hosting of Mike Adams and his support for gun control.

Voting: failed 13-0
