IFC Minutes - 1/30/07

IFC meeting called to order by David Quinn at 8pm. All chapters present. (Chi Phi)

1. Special Guest - Order of Omega: Honor Society seeking 15 new recruits with a cumulative GPA higher than the all-Greek average of 3.33, and who exemplify a high standard of leadership. Presidents, please make your chapters aware of this opporunity.

2. Special Guest - Jason Friedburg (Director of Public Safety) and Pete Mackey (Chief Communcations Officer): Spoke about campus preparedness with regards to large-scale campus emergencies. Discussed the new "Got Skills" and "Want Skills" programs which have been implemented to help support Bucknell's Crisis Management Plan. Encouraged all students, staff, and faculty members to register with this program if they are qualified with any emergency response skills. Students can register online to have their skills evaluated so that Bucknell knows who to turn to for assistance. Certifying classes will be offered on campus. Director Friedburg will discuss the "Want Skills" program more in the near future.

4. GAMMA - Adam Hinshaw: none

5. GAME - Arjun Raman: Requested e-mails about suggestions for speakers.

6. Community Service/Philanthropy - Chris Palmer: Downtown Cleanup starts next week. A check will be given to Community Harvest at halftime of the February 14th basketball game from the proceeds of the Million Penny Project. Polar Bear Plunge is this Saturday.

7. Special Events - Jay Sliger: We need to increase the price of House Party tickets to $25 for guests, and $15 for non-Greek students. Vote passed 13-0.

8. Secretary - Tommy Murray: Continuing to update the webpage.

9. Recruitment - Bill Groen: Super Bowl registration forms must be handed in by Thursday, February 1.

10. Treasurer - Mike Simione: none

11. VP-External - Steve Horsefield: Head of Women's Resource Center, Micheala Denny, has expressed interest in fraternity involvement.

12. VP-Internal - Nick Panaro: Presidents, please make your chapters aware of the jobs of GMT's during nights of registered parties. Super Bowl events must be registered and wristbands must be worn by all brothers that are of age. Registered parties this Friday are: Chi Phi, Sig Chi, TKE, and Sammy. Registered parties this Saturday are: Phi Psi.

13. President - David Quinn: There was a dramatic increase in the number of Greek Awards nominations. The Greek Awards will be held February 13.

14. Greek Advisor - Dean Marrara: Housing lists for the fall semester are due Thursday, February 1. Only the names of those living in the house and alternates are required. March 1 is the dealine for specific room assigments. Volunteering time to assist academic departments do not count towards community service hours for the Plan for Prominence.

15. Panhellenic - Stacey Swift: none
