IFC meeting called to order by Joe Valickus at 8pm. Chapters absent: Kappa Alpha Psi, (Held at Delta Upsilon) 1. Special Guest-Jess Scott: Focus the Nation- Plans teach- in events. Handed out schedule of events to get Greek community involved in global issues. Volunteer meeting this Thursday about getting brothers involved at the Environmental Center right next to TKE. Do some of the events as a whole chapter (e.g. stop driving for the day.) Pledge something within your fraternity and e-mail jpscott@ and she will publish the Fraternity’s pledges. 1 in 4- March 4 at 6pm- Plan for Prominence requirement. Speech about Sexual Assualt. 2. Special Guest-Alex Pron: Greek Hockey Night- Philanthropic event. February 9th. 25% of door money will go to highest attending Fraternity. 25% will go to highest attending Sorority. 50% will go to hockey team and this money can be donated to charity. Goal is to raise campus awareness for the hockey team. 3. Special Guest- Harry Kastenbaum: BSG President- Hopes that BSG and IFC will continue to be very close. 4. Alumni Liaison - Greg Wagner: Possible large contact list of all Greek alumni. Coordinate with Fraternities alumni liaisons to work together. Continue the Alumni Lunch. 5. GAMMA - Penton Mott: Wants to work closely with Panhellenic. Possible non-alcoholic alternative to House Party. 6. GAME - Chen Mao: Diversity Workshop- woman can come to house during lunches and dinners and demonstrate different aspects of her views. Diversity Forum- continue Arjun’s work. Co-op Community Service Project- in order to get community service while meeting other organizations 7. Community Service/Philanthropy - Scott Shapiro: Poppi Goforth- Planning dinner with all the Service chairs. Polar Bear Plunge is coming up so make sure you register. Blood Drive- (2 hrs for donation, 1 hr. just for going.) Highway cleanup areas that could use work (across from McDonalds) Call PennDot. Any good local organizations to be suggested for MPP (Million Penny Project.) Officer Snyder discusses bake sale in new minutes. Food festival instead of Greek Iron Chef. Ambiguity about participation in MPP. Every fraternity voted that they wanted to participate. 3 dollars per member. Still need to collect money from last year. Future meetings will vote on participation. 8. Special Events - Jack Swain: The food prices for House Party are ungodly through Dining Services; possibility of fraternity chef’s preparing food. IFC will compensate the chef’s. Need to know by next week. 9. Secretary - Chris Petersen: Minutes will be posted on the website in the future. Looking in to adding photo identification for IFC members on the website. 10. Recruitment - Arjun Raman: Upcoming Superbowl- Great opportunity for recruitment. Encourage first-years and non-greeks for recruitment for the Super Bowl. No wristbands required. March Madness/ Pay-Per-View events just make sure you register.Meet the Greeks- make sure you attend so that first-years see that we are committed. 11. Treasurer - Jeff Pike: Get your dues in by February 5th. (6 dollars per Brother in Fraternity.) Appropriations Committee- want to get more Greeks involved in that committee so it might be easier to get access. 12. VP-External - Abe Brodach: All Campus Olympics- the week after House party. Doing it outdoors on Graham fields in order to save money in cooperation with the sports teams. Target the community as a whole. Still selling house party wristbands the Thursday before House Party. Alpha to Omega- get articles to Abe about what you have been doing on campus and about your Fraternity in general. 13. VP-Internal - Tom Leaman: Suggestions for Officer Transition Workship next year. GMT- Pre-party and mid-party checks. RHA- we can get money from the school to fund furniture, televisions, etc. Need to create delegation to represent us in front of RHA. The PA’s should set up the delegation. Friday: Saturday: 14. President - Joe Valickus: IFC Constitution- read it and recommend changes or else you will be fined accordingly if you do not follow rules. PA One calls- anytime you need to drill something into the ground; allow 5 business days in between with your serf form. Inter-Greek support- build up Greek system as opposed to individual chapters. Collaborate as community. Cooperation with Public Safety- getting back to you if their has been a change in policy. 15. Panhellenic- Mary O’Sullivan: Wants to co-sponsor events with Fraternities 16. Public Safety- Officer Snyder: Open Door Policy- feel free to come in and discuss any problems together. Pre-party checks- Let them know when you want them to come and check the parties. Want to work together to have more face value and get to know each other. Possible bake sale in the L.C. 17. Greek Advisor - Dean Marrara: Mrs. Landis has retired. Temporary fill until late June. Pick up your Important Dates List- TURN THINGS IN ON TIME. He will e-mail you when Central Billing Checks come in. Give feedback on Plan for Prominence Workshop. Meet with Dean Marrara on a regular basis. Informal recruiting- give names so that student’s grades can be cleared. Greek Award Nominations- nominate individuals soon. PA’s need to be approved by Dean Marrara. Housing List- due February 1st. Copy of Academic Achievement Programs due Feb. 1. Went over the Serf Form for proper understanding. 18.
