General Council Meeting Minutes
April 7 , 2008

  • Meeting was called to order at 5:30

    • Roll Call
      • All present

      • Cristie Winkler: Day of Silence Funding Request
        • Day of Silence promotes awareness of LGBT
        • Bucknell expanded mission statement to increase diversity; all groups who have been silenced
        • Requesting Panhel funds for food at one event (approx. $225)
    • President  Reports: Mary O’Sullivan
      • Vote on previous minutes
        • Unanimously passed
      • Discussion regarding Day of Silence Funding Request
        • Not too much interest in funding food (concern about setting precedent)
        • Proposal to fund pledge cards $50
        • Will vote on funding pledge cards at next meeting
      • Letter from Bill Frake, VP of ACE
        • Looking to co-sponsor more non-alcoholic events in the future
        • Keep in mind as it is a great opportunity to increase non-alc participation
      • BU Olympics
        • Low attendance was disappointing
        • Please fill out evaluation as the events cannot be improved if no feed-back is given
      • Homecoming, October 24th
        • Begin forming committees soon
        • Committees will include non-Panhel members, so encourage chapter members to get involved
        • Ideas: street fest, carnival, alumni luncheon

        • BSG Budget: Fall 2008
          • $1000 for hazing speaker
          • $1000 for alcohol speaker
          • Money allotted for membership dinner and duplicating

          • Will take place the last week of classes through finals
          • Please announce to chapters so members save clothes when packing

          • Neighborhood Thaw-Out: April 18th 3-5pm, ssottile@bucknell.edu
          • Empty Bowls Pottery Workshop: make bowl at craft center Tuesdays 12-5pm to benefit local food banks; 1 hour/ bowl (no limit)
          • 5K Heiter Run: April 12th @ 9am, benefits Donald Heiter Community Center, need race day volunteers poppy.goforth@bucknell.edu
          • Lewisburg Arts Festival: April 25-26th, need help with set-up/clean-up, email poppy.goforth@bucknell.edu if interested

        • Fall Diversity event is cancelled due to lack of funding

        • New Materialism service projected ended with successful sales; proceeds benefit Donald Heiter Community center
        • Volleyball Tourney with Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sat April 12th from 1-6pm
      • Chi Omega
          • Will celebrate 113th year of founding on Saturday
          • Local Chi Mu Alumni are invited to celebration
          • Thanks for participation in Powderpuff tourney; great event
      • Kappa Kappa Gamma
        • Kappa Classic date change: now April 27th
        • Hope all 6 chapters are represented in tourney
        • Planning miniature golf philanthropy event with Kappa Delta Rho
        • Guest speaker on Body Image at chapter this week
