General Council Meeting Minutes
February 4, 2008
Meeting was called to order at 6:00
- Roll Call
- President Reports: Mary O’Sullivan
- Vote on previous minutes
- Public Safety Meeting
- Mary, Joe Valickus, Tom Leaman, & Dean Marrara met with Chief Friedberg, Officer Snyder, and Officer James
- Public safety says they have not changed their approach
- Stress to chapter members that when public safety breaks up a party, you are allowed to get your personal belongings before leaving
- if public safety is not respectful, please contact Mary or Joe
- Extension
- Will help with the number issue (too many girls in each chapter)
- Most chapters seem to support it
- Challenge will be recruiting first pledge class
- Possibly coming too soon; let all current chapters reach quota first (delay process a bit?)
- Large pledge classes make sisterhood bonding difficult
- Some chapters must vote as their headquarters instruct them to
- We will vote on extension next week; delegates MUST be present (or give someone else written permission to vote in their absence)
- Panhellenic Bylaws
- Mary, Claudia Denson, and Jaclyn Spechler will be reviewing and updating the bylaws next week
- Review them and provide feedback
- Mary will send-out an electronic copy to chapter presidents
- Chapter Updates
- Please send an email to Mary by Friday
- Chapter presidents all had dinner last week (yay!)
- Anxious Brain Program on Thursday-announce at your chapters
- Officer Reports
- Erin Wolfe: Recruitment
- Each chapter needs to electronically submit 5 photos (eew006@bucknell.edu ); some group pictures (no boys or alcohol)
- Open Suites date changed! Tentative date: April 8th
- Irene Tsao: GAME
- Important events: Multicultural Movement Monday (Feb 4) and Freedom to Marry Week (Feb 11-14)
- Alesandra Agresti: GAMMA
- All Greek non-alcoholic event
- Lots of interest in ice-skating and bowling; ultimate frisbee? (golf is also still a possibility)
- Interact/ mingle with other chapters rather than competitive event
- Public Safety Open forum (as opposed to speaking to individual chapters)
- Sponsor non-alcoholic event with IFC and Theta Chi during House Party
- Jaclyn Spechler: Vice-President, External
- Need articles for Alpha to Omega – before Spring Break
- Copies of old newsletters on the website
- Chapter Weekly Updates/ Announcements
- Chi Omega: Laura Chernak
- National Consultant here to help with recruitment
- Four new members! Bid day on Saturday
- Non-alc with Delta Upsilon “Root Beer Pong” was great success

- Pi Beta Phi: Jillian Harvey
- Trying to schedule a self-defense class
- Delta Gamma and Alpha Chi are possible co-sponsors?
- IFC Update: Joe Valickus, President
- Next Meeting: Tuesday, February 5 @ Theta Chi, 8:00pm
- Re-emphasize that public safety feels strongly that nothing has changed
- If uncomfortable, notify chapter leaders and then leave
- Encourage members to attend Greek Awards; see what chapters have gone above and beyond this past year

- Greek Awards next Tuesday (committee meets thursday)
- missing paperwork: Girls living in Hunt next fall and Academic Achievement
- Greek Night at Club Hockey Game
- February 9, tickets cost $3
- 18 of 22 eligible players are Greek (so come support them!)
- Philanthropy: 50% profit to local youth hockey league and 25% to the Sorority and Fraternity with the most fans
- Counts as University sponsored P4P event
- Buses leave Smith lot at 3:30 on Saturday
- Cold Rink-about 45 degrees, so dress warm!
