General Council Meeting Minutes
February 1 1, 2008
- Meeting was called to order at 6:00
- Roll Call
- Guests
- Dean Remley and Chief Friedberg: Electronic entry to residence halls
- Inform student leaders of “Access Control Program”
- Discussion began 10 months ago after Virginia Tech incident
- All residence hall exterior doors (except the mods) will have Card Access
- Currently concentrating on 290 exterior doors in 40 residential buildings; Eventually academic buildings and interior doors (Roberts, Hunt)
- Timeline
- Feb 25: start construction on various halls
- April thru summer: install access/swipe boxes
- Completed by August 1st
- keep students informed about when construction will be on what buildings
- all workers will wear badges; Work hours: M-F 9-5, S/S 11-7
- only enter hallway space (if need room access, they will be escorted)
- if any privacy problems, contact Dean Remley or Chief Friedberg
- looking into privacy solutions (possible curtain during work hours)
- establish efficient and convenient card office for replacements/ problems
- one card does all (dining, residence hall access, library, ID)
- will be looking for input on policies/procedures for students
- Mindy Harris: Order of Omega
- Bucknell’s Greek Honor Society
- Accepts Junior/ Senior Greek members based on character, scholarship, leadership, service (less than 5% accepted)
- Invite members of your chapter to apply
- Applications due March 15 to Greek Office or Mindy (box c326)

- Vote on previous minutes
- Read “Questioning the Greeks”; discuss next week at Panhel meeting

- Email Mary with any changes
- Reviewing the election process
- Changes will be presented next week; vote Feb 25

- Dues: $5/ member (based on last semester count, includes those abroad) by Feb 25; make checks to Panhellenic Association
