A brief history of the organization: We came, we saw, we conquered.
Our organization is not a new one. Bucknell previously had an unchartered chapter of the College Democrats, but due to lack of initiative they lost their charter and eventually faded into obscurity much like Michael Dukakis. But then, in the Fall of 2001, one daring freshman dreamed a little dream of political activism and the democratic belief system, and, a rebirth occurred. Denis Kennedy, bent on world domination (or perhaps just tired of conservative idiocy on campus) enlisted the help of some trusted allies, and together they put Democratic activism back on the map at Bucknell. After an initial interest meeting membership ballooned to a staggering 30 people (one of whom had actually founded the Bucknell chapter of the Green Party, although she insists she is not a Green).
The Bucknell College Democrats immediately made a name for themselves
by showing up, literally! They attended the Annual State Conference of
the Young Democrats at Penn State University where their 5 person
delegation was either equal to or larger than those sent by the much
larger University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University. To see

Further adding to their dynamic and feared reputation was a mid spring 2001 trouncing of the complacent Conservatives Club in a debate on United States foreign policy and our role in Afghanistan. Conservatives cowered near their Mercedes SUV's for days after, not daring to show their faces. The drab work of rechartering and reorganizing out of the way, the College Democrats are once more on the move and ready, in 2001-2002, to work campaigns, enliven discussions, and rock the party also known as Bucknell (and not to mention, treat themselves with food at their biweekly general meetings).
