CCM continued to grow and develop through the 1980s. Welcome parties were held for new students, volunteers helped out around the house, and many other gatherings were held throughout the year.

In 1983, after 9 years of service to Bucknell CCM, Father Celia was transferred to Shippensburg University and the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, out of Allentown, PA served to lead Catholic Campus Ministry at Bucknell. Father Celia was replaced by Father John Coyne who served as the Catholic Chaplain at Bucknell from 1983 to 1987.

In 1985, the U.S. Bishops released a statement on campus ministry called "Empowered by the Spirit: Campus Ministry faces the Future." This statement would become crucial in the formation of new bylaws for the organization in the future.

On campus in 1985, the members of CCM put on a performance of Godspell in Rooke Chapel. They spent much time in preparation for it. Other events that year included a birthday party for Father John and a visit from former chaplain, Father Celia.

In 1987, Father John Coyne left Bucknell. He was replaced by Father Joe McNamara who served as the Catholic Chaplain from 1987 to 1990.
