The Constitution:

< previous | Section 8: Sibling Organizations | next >

I. Definition
A. A sibling organization is a student group from a college or university, recognized by C.A.L.V.I.N. & H.O.B.B.E.S., with similar goals and aspirations that are alcohol and substance-free in nature.  The sibling affiliation is for the purpose of exchanging ideas and friendship with no financial ties while maintaining an open dialogue between our groups.
II. Adding Sibling Organizations
A. To be added as a sibling organization, the organization must first contact C.A.L.V.I.N. & H.O.B.B.E.S.  The public relations coordinator will be the contact person.
B. The public relations coordinator will send the organization the following:
1. A personalized greeting on behalf of our group.
2. The C.A.L.V.I.N. & H.O.B.B.E.S. mission statement (see Constitution Section One).
3. The definition of a sibling organization (see Constitution Section Eight - I).
4. The requirements of a sibling organization (see Constitution Section Eight-II-C).
5. The procedure to become a sibling organization (see Constitution Section Eight-II-D).
C. Requirements for Sibling Organizations
1. The group must show proof of existence, preferably university recognition; the validity of which is up to the discretion of the public relations coordinator.
2. The group must have a mission statement or list of goals.
3. The group must have similar goals and aspirations to C.A.L.V.I.N. & H.O.B.B.E.S.
4. The group must agree to the definition of a sibling organization.
5. If the group has not decided upon a name, C.A.L.V.I.N. & H.O.B.B.E.S. may recommend an acronym (maybe from a cartoon strip).  The final decision is, of course, up to the applying group.
6. The group must follow any requirements stated with regards to sibling relations (see Constitution Section Eight-IV).
D. Procedure for becoming a Sibling Organization of C.A.L.V.I.N. & H.O.B.B.E.S.
1. The group must send C.A.L.V.I.N. & H.O.B.B.E.S. (through the Public Relations Coordinator) the information listed in Constitution Section Eight-II-C).
2. If all requirements are not met, the application is held active for one year from the most recently received requirement.  After that time, their group must start over from the beginning of the process.
3. Once ALL requirements are met, the executive committee presents the information and gives its opinion at the general meeting.
4. A vote is conducted at the general meeting (see Constitution Section Three-I).
5. If the vote does not pass, the public relations coordinator contacts the group in question with the reason(s) the vote failed and reminds the group that it may reapply after one year.
III. Removing Sibling Organizations
A. Conditions for removal
1. If a sibling organization dissolves it is automatically removed.
2. Anything can be considered as grounds for removal.
B. Procedure for removal
1. Process is started with a petition signed by ten (10) or more formal members, which may include officers.
2. Petition must include the group in question and the reason for possible removal.
3. One copy of the petition must be submitted to each the President, Vice President of Activities, and Vice President of Administration.
4. The group in question is notified by the public relations coordinator and has one month to respond with a written rebuttal or to send a representative to meet with our group.
5. The secretary should notify the membership of the situation and that there will be a vote.
6. The Executive Committee must read a formal declaration along with the rebuttal at the next general meeting following the submission of the rebuttal.
7. A vote is conducted at the general meeting (see Constitution Section Three-I).
8. A sibling group that is removed may reapply for sibling status after one year.
IV. Sibling Relations
A. Any group that is a C.A.L.V.I.N. & H.O.B.B.E.S. sibling organization must contact C.A.L.V.I.N. & H.O.B.B.E.S. at least once per semester, preferably with a list of their activities.
