Spring 2009: Three Bucknell students launch fashion blog online called UGOVO
UGOVO (yoo-go-voe) is a place to discover and share fashion you find anywhere on the web. They have no editors – all their content is submitted by users.
Founded by Hiro Maeda ’09, Jason Mehr ’09, and Brian Chew ’10, the website aims to bring people together through fashion. Funding the project out of their own pockets, they entered Bucknell University’s 2009 Venture Plan
Competition where they came in third place, receiving much encouragement and confidence from various judges and entrepreneurs. Although currently working out of Maeda’s room, UGOVO will soon relocated to Japan where Maeda will oversee operations; Mehr and Chew will continue to work from the U.S.
Visit their site at http://www.ugovo.com/home.php.

About Us
Be is a student-run fashion magazine at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. Be was founded in December 2006 by Sara Kurz ('09) and has produced 7 issues since then. Be circulates three issues per academic calendar year: a special Homecoming edition, a Winter Issue and a Spring issue. Be is funded by Bucknell’s Student Government (BSG), the Association for the Arts, and local advertisements in each issue. Involvement in Be is open to all undergraduate students and we are always looking for new members. Please see our Contact Us page to direct any inquiries.
When/Where We Meet: Mondays in Taylor Hall 113 at 6 pm
OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
The aim of this magazine is to adjudicate a community and medium through which Bucknell students, faculty/staff, alumni, Lewisburg businesses and members can share their interest in fashion, as it pertains to the Bucknell experience and the greater fashion industry. The content of this magazine strives to be a fun, but practical and affordable venue for fashion within the greater contexts of student life for both men and women.
Section 1:
To give Bucknell students the opportunity to create their own background and experience in the Fashion Industry, more specifically, in Fashion Journalism. To give these students a medium through which they can engage in a real-life fashion magazine through design-layout, production, editing, writing, and distribution while attending Bucknell University.
Section 2:
To serve as a resource for students regarding information about internships, careers, summer and study abroad opportunities in the fashion industry.
Section 3:
To support alumni interest in preserving a link with Bucknell’s fashion-oriented students and to encourage alumni contribution to our content through sharing their experiences and advice.
Section 4:
To serve as a unique link between Bucknell and the Lewisburg community by supporting local boutiques, businesses, and the Bucknell Bookstore through advertising and featuring their fashion-related merchandise in each publication.
Section 5:
To open up an opportunity for students to expand upon their interest in fashion and style as an art form and a viable form of expression that fosters creativity and individuality in everyday life. To give students a medium to explore the many facets of fashion including form, style, color, texture, illustration, shape, trend, among others.
Section 6:
To promote and sponsor a healthy body image and lifestyle for both men and women. Be seeks to gain and promote a broad spectrum of diverse ethnicity, gender and size awareness in its presentation of individual fashion and the fashion industry as a whole.
Section 7:
To maintain a separate, but friendly relationship with Culture Couture and to promote their activities whenever possible.
Section 8:
To develop and continually enhance our club website in order to supplement our publications, activities and fashion knowledge to the Bucknell and Lewisburg community and beyond.
